OHIO Assistant Coach Dan Bremner named head coach of Roanoke in SPHL

Athens, OH OHIO Hockey assistant coach Dan Bremner was named head coach today of the Roanoke Rail Yard Dawgs in the Southern Professional Hockey League. Bremner will take over for Sam Ftorek.During his time at OHIO, Bremner worked with the Bobcat’s defense and helped lead OHIO’s penalty kill to an 88.66% rate, good for third in the CSCHL.“I am extremely proud of Dan and the opportunity he has earned,” stated head coach Sean Hogan. “It is an opportunity he couldn’t pass up and I, the team, and everyone around OHIO Hockey wish him the best of luck in Roanoke.”Bremner spent six seasons as a player in the SPHL, appearing in 281 career SPHL games, tallying 48 goals, 79 assists for 127 points. The hard-nosed forward totaled 709 penalty minutes in his pro career. Bremner held several leadership roles as a professional player, serving as captain of the Peoria Rivermen for two seasons, and in his final season serving as a player-assistant coach for the Rivermen.“I am grateful for the opportunity I had with OHIO Hockey and working with coach Hogan,” stated Bremner. “I want people to realize that OHIO Hockey is coached, operated and played at an elite level and I am thankful for my time here.
